Awards and Recognitions of Henri Becquerel
Rumford Medal
Henri won the Rumford Medal in 1900. He was awarded this medal by the Royal Society for his outstanding achievements of discovering radioactivity with Uranium. This honor has only been given to 100 people since its creation when it was first awarded to Rumford in 1800.
Helmholtz Medal
He was awarded the Helmholtz Medal in 1901 by the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. It is given to specific indiviuals who have greatly contributed to different fields of study. It was first awarded in 1892 and is one of two awards that the academy bestows upon certain individuals.
Nobel Prize
Mr. Becquerel was awarded the 1903 Nobel Peace Prize for Physics. This award was split between him and other scientists by the names of Marie Curie and Pierre Curie. He was given this prestigious award to commemorate his achievement of the discovery of spontaneous radioactivity.
Barnard Medal
Mr. Becquerel was given this award in 1905. It was awarded by the National Academy of Science.
Académie des Sciences
In the year of his death, 1908. he was named the Permanent Secretary of the Académie des Sciences. This was one of the greatest honors that he received.

The SI unit for radioactivity was named after Mr. Becquerel because of his discovery with Uranium. It was made a shortened version of his last name Becquerel.

There are two craters named after Henri Becquerel. There is one on the moon and one on Mars.
